windy on orient - 04/01/2016 06:08 PM

Hi Guys,
Looks like it'll be windy next week when we arrive for 17 days. We'll be staying on Orient beach but don't want to if it's windy. So, where is another good beach option if we can't take the wind on Orient? I imagine we'll have to look on the opposite side of the island. Thanks

I think that Mullet beach is one of the nicest beaches on the island and quite protected from the winds.

This winter we stayed on Orient Beach, but went for a beach road trip one day, Mullet was pounding!! - Baie Rouge by contrast was lovely and easy to get in / out and bob. We like Mullet, but don't assume it's the only choice if windy on Orient

Grand Case is normally flat calm, no crowds, little breeze, zero seaweed, with more fine dining options

You might try walking over to Le Gallion from the south end of Orient, in case of high wind... it's amazing how calm it can be just that 10-minute walk away.. Nice food at Tropical Wave, and drinks cheaper than on Orient too!

Have been here now for three weeks. The entire island has been experiencing an unusual amount of wind....and there is NO PLACE on the island that is exempt. It is NOT that bad...but at Orient, or Mullett, since we have been enjoying both, the winds are ''breezy''...almost like being in Aruba. The winds have been going on for well over a month...The wind has made for some interesting dinners also.....especially at the open air restaurants. Funny story, last week was eating at Fig....and before the waitress came back to collect the bill.....the wind took the closed cover...and the money blew everywhere!!!! Luckily it was all recovered. smile

We found Rainbow in Grand Case really protected from the wind.

Anse Marcel is generally protected from the winds, and the water is as calm as it comes. Excellent restaurant also: Anse Marcel Beach Restaurant (or something like that).

Today the wind sent us home in a superb fashion. Perfect breeze on Orient, just enough to keep it cool. The best day in almost two weeks.
