We had an experience with a drug dog many years ago when returning from a trip to Grenada via SJU. We'd to reclaim our bags and wait with them in line before rechecking them.
A handler was walking through the area and his dog stopped at our luggage and in particular he was sniffing our carry-on cooler bag. It scared the heck out of me even though I knew there was nothing in there he could be looking for. Of course, I had to open it and show the handler and in the end he apologized for the inconvenience and explained the dog was young and very new on the job.
