Texting St. Martin Questions - 04/19/2017 02:40 PM

I need to text someone in SXM (French Side). I have their number +59069022XXXX. Do I just type this in exactly when I txt from the US? What about from SXM?

I am using a US phone with Verizon.

thanks!

I texted our taxi driver who lived in Marigot a few times last summer. I have an iPhone (as did he) with a Canadian carrier and my iMessages were delivered to him. His number is in that exact format. i.e. +59069062XXXX I'm not sure if a regular text vs. iMessage would make a difference.

If you don't all have whatsapp yet, it is a very popular message and phone app. Anywhere you have wifi or cell service, it will communicate. Free with wifi anywhere. Far better voice than cellular and so much simpler sometimes than sorting out dialing codes.

I texted from US on Android phone to French Side using +59069022XXXX, and it worked. Now we'll try next from SXM.

Yup, that's the way to go and it does work. As far as from the Island I just use the regular US number..(also Verizon)

Yes Sail, I use WhatsApp to communicate text calls and pics overseas. Friends here use it also.
I even had a friend call me from New Zealand on it. Free.
Cheers
