Relaxing at KKÔ on Orient….what to drink? Let’s check the wine list….

BSV, represent!

Still love the cool, laid back vibe of KKÔ. It has been rebuilt better than ever. Though I will NEVER forgive or forget what they did to One Eyed Jack, and the horrific end he had. frown

We had the BEST rental car from Kenny’s (thank you Lesley!) it was so cute, and so me…RED!

Rush hour traffic on the way home….

Then again near Cripple Gate

If you don’t have a lift to fix your plane, use trees

Dinner at JAX. The food and service were WONDERFUL. The experience….not so great. It was HOT and an absolute oven inside. I was offered the choice to sit outside, but there was no breeze out there at all. The A/C was not a match for the grill and kitchen. PLUS, they kept the front door open. How is the A/C supposed to compete with that? They are still missing eliminator vents in the kitchen and grill area, so all the heat goes into the dining room. They are said to be on order and installed later…I will not return until that work is complete. There are only a few 2 tops in the restaurant and guess where they are? BY THE GRILL! They were unable to move me as the Facebook SXM Food Porn group was also dining that night. We had bottled flat water and ice cubes to try and cool off. A server knocked over the entire ice bucket and water (glass bottle). The bottle shattered EVERYWHERE, across the room, under the table, IN MY SHOE. I was literally in tears by this point, being overheated, sprayed with glass, and just all around disappointed. But our food order was in and we soldiered on. I only have a picture of the filet…it was very good. Service attentive. No one passed your table without checking on you, clearing an item, or bringing something. We did not linger, paid the check, and got the heck out of Dodge.

Breakfast at Zee Best in Simpson Bay. Huevos Rancheros and …yes, Eggs Benny! Had the opportunity to chat with Dominic and his beautiful wife Kara. Always so good to see them.

My favorite alley downtown. I’m sure many of you also photograph this scene. It is an oasis from the heat of the Boardwalk. CAUTION on the Front Street side….one of those damn scam cosmetic/skin care places is right at the end. One of those BIT*HES followed me into the alley when I ignored her, and she started being quite rude and profane. I told her she really had a mouth on her. SXM needs to do something about these carnival barkers and snake oil salespeople.

Needing a drink and lunch after the stress of the big city in Philipsburg (lol) we went to Lagoonies to meet some friends who had sailed over from Anguilla. This was a first for us but won’t be the last! The menu changes daily and is well prepared. Any place with something Elvis in the room is good in my book. While I used the wi-fi hubby watched the boatyard next door and saw a mast being installed, so he was a happy camper.

Hubby had the monk fish w/ mushroom sauce and truffle oil risotto. Local Pelikaan brewery beer.

I had the beef carpaccio (see a pattern?) w/ roasted potatoes and salad. I thought potatoes were a rather odd item to accompany the carpaccio. Took them “to go” and later chopped and sautéed them into breakfast ‘taters!

As we were there the gardens began to fill out and bloom more since we had a bit of rain which the island desperately needed. Watching activity from our balcony was a treat. Hubby would hand the gardener a bottle of cold water as he worked in the mornings.

Lovely colors at Tortuga / Royal Islander complex. Nice place for breakfast or drinks.

Next….the feeding frenzy continues…….

Thanks for the sharing the pics and your trip! We stopped at Lagoonies for the first time last October. We went simply to try the locally brewed beer and loved the atmosphere whether sitting dockside or inside. Will definitely return.

Thanks for another terrific report! So sorry to hear about your JAX experience. I was there a couple of nights ago and was impressed by both food and service. Wasn't uncomfortable, temperature-wise.

The A/C was out before Irma. They also were waiting for a part?

Great pictures and yes we were there last Saturday evening the night before my Birthday because I had to leave for two days and the Airco wasn't working that good. But we survived.

HI, we found it this trip in March / April

Leaving Simpson Bay, before the roundabout, there is a large Casino on your left - Princess - , just past, there is a road to the left - Waterfront Rd - which ends up following the east end of the lagoon shore. That road meets Wellington, keep left, follow at least half way - Lagoonies is on your left. A little hard to find, it's behind a Yacht rigging company - FKG Rigging - maybe a red building?. Drive in,parking on the side
Liked the vibe, food and drinks

Not a lot of parking there so be prepared to park on a street.

We parked in a lot at Lagoonies. It is the Lagoon lot.

(note the "free secure lot) wink
