Here you go!
No idea. Guessing somewhere in Turkey.
I thought I saw something like that in Arizona.
Not Turkey or Arizona, but Turkey is closer.
So Vis stumped me, went to Google. Not sure if that is where the picture is or not, but Vis looks very nice!
Are you going to tell us your worked there too?
Not Vis, but getting closer. Ellen, I had to google Vis too!
LOL I said VIS because of your other photos from that region
As long as we are throwing out wild a** guessing, I’m going Hungary.
Not Hungary. I'll try to find another photo clue to post.
This should help.
I am going jump off the mainland... Sicily?
Tom has the correct country, but not Sicily.
Another clue.
I am still thinking an island... Sardinia?????
Not Sardinia. This one should give it away and it's been 18 hours.
Just looked at it again, that last one gave it away, I think.
Pompeii
Pompeii it is! SXMFOX is correct.
Yes, for sure the last picture gave it away. I don't have any pictures right now anyway, so glad Fox had already guessed it!
Ok let me find one, be right back
Ok, where are we. This might be to easy. If I knew I’d be playing this game way beck when, I would have taken better photos, lol.
No on both answers. Real close, think north.
Huh. OK, I got nothin'!
Carol should know this one, heck most everyone should. I’ll give another hint photo shortly if not guessed.
This is somewhere in Mexico, I believe
I thought it was Chichen Itza, which is in Mexico, but he said wrong continent.............. Ah, I see he edited his post. Tulum?
Carol got it!!! I bet all of us have been there. Your up Carol.
Fox--Actually we haven't been there. We went to Chichen Itza, which is a whole lot more impressive, and then just never went 'down' to the level of Tulum.
Next picture
Gate House Inn, Saba -- ?
If right, not sure I can get picture posted.
Snorkeller--It is Saba, not Gate House Inn, but I didn't expect anyone to get the exact hotel. I actually figured I would have to post a couple of follow up pictures to get the island. You're up!
Try to post a picture. It's really pretty easy. Just hit USE FULL EDITOR. Once that page comes up, use Attachment Manager and upload your picture. It really is easy. Try it and let me know.
Where?
OK - easier than I thought it might be - I had tried to practice some on testing page.
We were at Gate House in Saba some years back and I really thought that was it - had an immediate reaction to the picture. We have really enjoyed our times in Saba.
Snorkeller--Glad you were able to post the picture!!
The picture was taken at El Momo Cottages, around 2010. Perhaps it has changed names since then, I don't know. Saba has some very spectacular scenery, that's for sure!
Language looks Spanish maybe?
From reading the sign the ticket prices are in Euros, the language appears Spanish, the second language on the sign is probably Portuguese. So going to guess Atlantic coast of Spain. Can't get closer than that for now.
Yes - you are correct about Atlantic coast of Spain. Key landmark is in background.
I understand enough Spanish to see the Tower of Hercules - but I'd have to resort to Google to find it's location
Close enough - it is the Tower of Hercules in the background of picture - city is A Coruña in northwestern Spain.
I feel like I might have cheated a bit but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth
Where is this place?
Not sure why I think so, but Montego Bay?
I think reading signs in the picture is within the rules - so, you didn't cheat!
This is not in Montego Bay. There is a sunken wreck in the middle of this bay.
This is not in Montego Bay. There is a sunken wreck in the middle of this bay.
Old photo though so perhaps before the wreck? I've no real idea. Seem to recognise the beach bar but not the hotel behind. Let's try St Lucia.
The picture would have to be quite old to be before the wreck, which happened in 1905

This is not in St. Lucia
Here's a panoramic picture taken of the same bay from just a couple of feet away from the first picture.
Sleepchef - where in Antigua?
don'tknow it was a random guess, someone else can nail it down now
According to the tourist authority there are 365 beaches on Antigua. This is one of them
I never knew that,I know the 365 rivers on Dominica
Google time is up, folks! Google away!!!
Deep Bay Beach, but I defer to Sleepychef
Cheers drayman
where is this
Chef,
One the funniest movies I have ever seen. Micheal Keaton absolutely nailed that role. I want to say this display was/is in Las Vegas?
Desne loves it too , but not Las Vegas
Could it be in the Smithsonian?
No,think who made the movie not directed it
Guessing an exhibition of Tim Burton films.
we have a winner
you are up ndfaninnc
I haven't been to as many places as y'all. So, where am I?
I think that this might be Hawknest Bay on St. John, USVI.
Those look like NPT Moorings.
Looks like St. John, but I'm not sure which bay.
Our last night was spent here. Not Hawknest Bay.
I was certain that this was St. John, everything matches! So I used Google Maps and now have to wait for the clock to run out before submitting my next guess
Okay, I guess I didn't specifically ask for the name of this bay on St John. Should we wait for the name of the bay, or move on? If moving on, Zanshin you are up.
Just saw your post Fred. Not Salt Pond Bay.
ndfan--you only posted the picture about an hour ago, so let's wait a little longer for the name of the bay.
Well, as long as we can keep guessing, I'll guess Caneel Bay. I was at many of the anchorages in July but now can't recall all their names and looks.
I think that someone here will identify it - The moorings plus the direction that the boats are pointed with the prevailing wind should give it away.
Not sure about the winds...
but it is definitely the backside of STJ
Looks like Great Lameshur Bay to me
Great deep water snorkeling at the point.

Tom, the deep water snorkeling was indeed fantastic. The bay was also full of turtles. You are up sir!
I do not think we are in St John anymore...
Is that near Torremolinos ?
I would guess about and 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive in a car.
Could be Moorish Spanish architecture. Granada or Seville.
Nope this bridge was finished in the late 1700s long after the Moors were finally driven from Spain in 1492.
However you are in the correct Autonomous Community of Spain.
Hemingway wrote about the bridge in his book - "For Whom the Bells Toll".
He describes five hundred fascist Nationalist sympathizers early in the Spanish Civil War by being thrown from the bridge.
This was not a place you wanted to be during the Spanish Civil War!
Not a very good picture but it is definitely not a bridge I want to be thrown from!
From your description, I'll guess Madrid.
Fred,
Richie148 throughout to cities in Andalucia and this small city is also in Andalucia. Madrid is six hours north of this beautiful place.
Hemingway wrote about the bridge in his book - "For Whom the Bells Toll".
Not a very good picture but it is definitely not a bridge I want to be thrown from!
Or perhaps my HS English teacher might have edited as...
“From which a bridge I would not like to be thrown!”?
i am a devout follower of ee cummings
and it don't matter how one writes it when airborne to the bottom
Think it is Ronda. Inland a bit from Marbella.
Ronda it is! Mike you are up.
If we ever get to travel to Spain again.... I highly recommend Ronda on your itinerary!
Had a friend who lived near to Ronda a few years back and took a day trip there. That bridge is seriously impressive.
Can someone else post a photo please???? I'm right out now as I don't have access to my backup device. As the UK has gone into another lockdown I've decided to stay in warm and sunny Spain a while longer rather than sit at home looking at rain and grey skies.
where is this.
correctamundo.
Have you been there?
Is that your own photograph as it needs to be for the game.
correctamundo.
Have you been there?
No Richie, it's in the url of the photo. Try another, but rename the photo so the answer doesn't show up.
Right Adrian, which probably means that he didn't take the picture himself. Richie--all pictures posted in this forum have to be taken by YOU or a family member, personally. Otherwise, they are potentially a violation of copyright..
Regardless Adrian, you're up!
Here you go! This one should be quick!
Hawaii? If not the big island I give up.
Hawaii yes, but not the big island.
Fred, you got it! This is the famous Napali Coast! Fred, you're up!
OK, I am getting low on pictures but here goes.
Looks wet, big tidal range, no cats, no courtesy flags visible. Perhaps Portsmouth, U.K.?
Not Portsmouth, but correct land mass.
Awesome - that picture really narrows it down! A port in the U.K. with a "Bar" and a "Restaurant" - there must only be a handful...

Are we in Wales?
Zanshin,
I was thinking the same thing, Like maybe Tenby or Mumbles?
I have spent a few drunken days in that very pub, so it does help a lot, did you see the pink seagull Fred?
Sleepychef, sounds like you could name the place now? Maybe you're giving others a chance so I'll post this more recognizable photo. I must have missed or have forgotten the pink seagull. Not Wales or what Fran said.
I've heard of the pink seagull thing. Could this be Barnstaple? Wish I could find my photos from Clovelly or St Ives.
Fran - negative on all those places.
The cruise ship (small) i worked called in here a few times, its a very colourful village, even a kids tv show in the UK called Balamory uses the village as a backdrop. I could never understand why they didn't sell local Toby jugs.
I am also running out of different places pictures
Sleepychef, I'm not sure if you're giving clues to others or what as you obviously know the correct name. I'll give you the choice of identifying or letting others use your great clues.
Clues
I am running out of different location picture
I know it as well but right out of suitable photos so holding off. Didn't recognise it until the colourful cottages appeared.
According to the TTOL time meter on my machine, someone should be able to legally use Google and Sleepychef's clues to figure this out.
Adrian,
Indeed, the lovely town is Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. I would love to go back there and in the meantime, you are up!
Fred, it looks like a great place to visit someday! And apparently it's a Bing Crosby song!
Here is the next photo...
sleepychef--why don't you just say where it is to end this one and then we'll invite anyone to post a picture..
Circus Maximus, Rome , its where they filmed the race in Ben Hur ...
well thats my guess
Circus Maximus, Rome , its where they filmed the race in Ben Hur ...
well thats my guess
Yes, sleepychef, you're correct. I thought more people would recognize this.
Yes I loved the moive, just watched it again, its an easter thing for me.
Easy one now
Cow Wreck and Robert lol
Fred you are up
Peter, I looked at the pic from my phone. Sorry Robert!
I think you might have mistaken me for Fred, no biggie, he's a good guy.

This might be an easy one as well for some folks, like Carol. Where is this island?
I don't know but I'd like to go there!
Thanks Fran,
Haven't been here but trying to guess Caribbean with that long mountain backdrop in the background, I'll guess Guatemala.
Not Guatemala but you're in the right region. A bit under the weather tonight, will check back in the AM.
Fran--I have no idea. Looks cool though!
Carol, I thought you might have seen it on one of your many cruises.
We went through the Panama Canal once and we took one cruise that stopped at Cartagena, several to Aruba, but otherwise, most have been pretty much in the Caribbean, not so far south.
Maybe this will help a little. This city is not too far away.
Aruba? The private island of the downtown hotel? Name/chain I’ve forgotten, shuttle boat goes into the lobby
No, not Aruba, much further west. Fred was in the right region. The island is around 7-8 miles or so out from the city in the second photo.
I haven't been here, but I'll take another guess and say Costa Rica? Don't know the name of the island wherever it is.
No, not Costa Rica. Not sure I really expect folks to name the island, name the city and you'll get the country where the island is located.
I think we've reached the 18 hour mark so google away.
Belize City is the City - do not know name of isle.
Belize is what I was looking for. You're up.
By the way, the island is English Caye and is at the start of the deep water channel for ships heading to Belize City.
where
Good guess, but this island is southeast of St. Croix.
This sugar mill stopped commercial operation in 1947 - one of last operating.
Yes - you got it - it is the Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill in Barbados - now a museum.
I think you might have it Fred. Waiting for snorkeller to respond. We saw a mill like that on Barbados years ago. You jogged my memory.
Yes, Fred got it. Your turn to post, Fred.
OK, here we go.
What little you can see of the building in the background makes me think it might be somewhere in the UK. Perhaps a church destroyed by bombing in WWII.
I hesitate to post a bar as Sleepychef usually recognizes immediately, but here goes.
So, we're in Scotland it seems from the name of the pub... but where? I have to guess Edinburgh but that seems too obvious.
Fran, yes too obvious - a much smaller town and to the west of Edinburgh. But you have the country correct.
Well, you have me there, I'm not that familiar with Scottish towns. My only other choice is Glasgow
Fran - a wee smaller than Glasgow. Here is another clue for the evening, and maybe my last.
Oban? I've not been there but am guessing based on the clues!
Swifty, this town is SSE of Oban and W of Glasgow. Should be a clue here.
Sorry missed the pub clue but Thats Rothesay on the Isle of Bute wouldn't drink in that "old man" pub , was it on your whisky cruise Fred?
If i am right Swifty canpost the next picture.
Sleepychef, it was after the Malts Cruise and I guess I qualified to drink there - I definitely would now.
Swifty, Sleepychef is correct and has graciously yielded to you so you are up.
Yikes! I'm going to be gone for a few hours so I'll turn it back over to sleepychef.
something new
Ok! Where am I?
I know the country and the river... Now I have to think of which town it is.
It is definitely the Mosel in Germany. Hills on one side, winding small river which rules out the Rhein and the Main rivers. Could it be Traben-Trarbach?
It is indeed the Mosel - I figured this would be an easy one for you! It's not Traben-Trarbach but it's close. Let me see if I have another photo to help narrow it down.
Not sure if this will help, but here's another photo from the town.
<light goes on> - I thought of Winzer Dr. Loosen initially and with that famous picture I believe that we are looking at Bernkastel-Kues in my home province of Rheinland-Pfalz.
Correct!! FYI, my parents lived in Duesseldorf for a few years and we took some great trips around Germany with them.
You're up!
Düsseldorf is an interesting city - I was there recently (before Corona) and it also boasts the biggest Japanese population in Europe with some excellent food & merchandise to be had!
Where is this?
I thought I had deleted that guess
Belfast?
Neither Ireland nor Scotland is depicted here
Looks cold. I'm going northern Germany, perhaps Hamburg.
Jeannius - your guess is a lot closer to this location than Belfast; but it isn't in Hamburg
I have a lot of pictures, but it is hard to find additional ones that don't make it too easy. This is indeed in Europe and at a latitude at or above that of Rotterdam.
Oops, that shopping center picture slipped in (although it is indeed in the same city)
I actually wanted to post this image
Just a guess but Warsaw? The buildings in the first photo seem like something you would see after the Soviets took over and rebuilt the country.
xrayman67 has it. All the other pictures that I have are as revealing as this one (would have been)
Let me try to find a new picture. I'll start a new thread.
