St. Peirre (sp) has a nice warket by the waterfront. There is also a nice beach on the Atlantic side with a lot of water sports options available, sorry I can't remember the name of it, but the sandbar goes far out into the water. You could also climb the volcano, you can drive most of the way up and park at the visitors center.

Definitely St. Pierre! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

I have heard about an arboretum on the east side that friends said is fascinating- hundreds of varieties of banana.

Remember good restaurants there and shopping. Also nice Cathedral.

St. Pierre is incredible when the [censored] off the Cruise Ships docked in Ft. de France are back on their boat. I got stuck there for not enough days last year bringing a boat north. Great place.

The peninsula on the east coast, called La Caravelle, I think, is pretty. There is a park at the east tip of it with a nice hike to a lighthouse that we enjoyed in June. Also, a walk along the Canal de Beauregard, also called the Slaves Canal, was a pleasant, quiet way to spend a few hours, if you like walking in the woods. We walked from its upper end. The place to park and start walking was quite remote, but I am sure anyone one the village could direct you to it. Have fun!
