Okay. I finally found it. Carol, it's pretty close to Contessas.

Peach Sangria

1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced
2 tbsp. sugar
2 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
1/4 cup peach schnapps
750 ml.chilled white wine, I like sauvignon blanc.
Combine all ingredients, stir.
I usually have to double the recipe because it goes real fast! LOL <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Sangria – Salamanca Style

In a large container or pot mix the following

2 bottles of Spanish Red Wine – Tempranillo or Garnacha are usually my choice, but definitely not expensive wine
1 cup of Rum - I prefer dark but not flavored
1/2 cup of Brandy… why Spanish of course
1 ˝ cup of Apple Juice
1 cup of Orange Juice, (Better Squeezed fresh than out the bottle)
1 large squeezed lemon
3 tablespoons of sugar

Slice up 2 Oranges, 1 apple, 1 lemon, (fruit should be fairly thin) and place them in the Sangria.
• You can add a few slices of lime, but I would not add lime until you are ready to serve

Stir well blending the fruit into the liquid. Put the top on pot and place in refrigerator

Let it sit for 48 hours….Ok … 24 hours… or however long you can wait, but the secret to Sangria is patience! It needs time for the fruit and wine to become one.

Stir a couple times mixing up the fruit while it is resting in the refrigerator.

Serve over ice,

Add a little Club Soda on the top if you like bubbles. That is your call - I like it better with no bubbles.

I learned this recipe from a bartender in Salamanca in 1972 and it has never failed me.

Strawberries
Jar of cherries

Soak sliced fruits in the brandy for 1 to 2 days

Re: sangria - 07/16/2013 04:01 PM

I wrote the recipe on the fly before and I forgot to add a 2L sprite and a large can of pineapple juice. It didn't seem right when I wrote it and I realized later I forgot a few things. Sorry, So here is the whole recipe.

1 bottle peach brandy, or, 1/2 bottle peach brandy and 1/2 bottle apricot brandy
4 sliced apples, oranges, limes
Strawberries
Jar of cherries
1 box white Zinfandel wine
1 2 L sprite
Large can pineapple juice

Soak the fruit in the brandy 1 to 2 days
Add the wine, pineapple juice and sprite

It's very refreshing on a hot summer day.
Sorry for the mistake. I think my multi tasking days are over.

Here is another easy Sangria recipe that I use for the cottage and it’s always a hit!

2 cups of freshly squeezed orange juice (I buy a bottle/jug of freshly squeezed orange juice from the fruit market/grocery store)
1/4 cup brandy (I add a bit more)
2 to 4 TBSP of sugar (depending on sweetness of oj you may use less/more)
Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher and stir till sugar dissolves
1 bottle dry red wine chilled (I use Beaujolais – I’ve experimented with quite a few wines and so far this is my fave)
You can add thinly sliced discs of lemons/limes/oranges to the mixture (not necessary if you want to keep it simple - I just use to garnish the rim of the glass)
Prepare glasses with ice cubes and fill with Sangria mixture (only fill glasses just over 3/4 full)
Top the remainder of the drinks with Pellegrino/Perrier and stir (tastes better than regular soda) - I'm not fond of adding the soda/Pellegrino with the Sangria mixture in the pitcher

Cheers - Roxanne
