Showers ashore

Heading down in a couple of weeks and plan on docking at Scrub, Leverick and Peter. We will also spend evenings at CGB and Norman. I know Scrub and Peter have showers available, Scrub nice, Peter not so nice. I'm assuming that Leverick would have some facilities as well. Is there anything available in CGB or Norman? May not be necessary, but would like to know just in case.

No showers in the additional anchorages mentioned.
Most ports on Tortola have facilities, save CGB, and there are full facitities at Yacht Harbor on VG.

Marina Key has showers but last time I used them they were very shall we say primitive. VGYH if you are overnight. Use to be top notch but has slid down the hill a ways. Bitter End has showers available.

I'm assuming Leverick does as well? We're spending two nights there.

yes, when I visited Leverick several years age there were showers and laundry facilities available.

The showers at Leverick are also very worn. But they have always been mosquito free and are free to use. Just buy water or take advantage of free water at Saba or Leverick.

Showers are available at " Myett's" in CGB..pay in the office and get a fresh towel..

one harbor over from Great is Little. Peace&Luv has showers. no shower heads and hellacious pressure can be invigorating.
Primitive, but welcome. I thought I was just going to use the head, saw the shower and made me feel good.

BEYC has nice showers.

The showers for the slips are better then the showers for the mooring balls at BEYC

We've always stopped at Leverick mid-trip to top off water and provisions, so we shower with abandon

I like the shower at Leverick in the phone booth on the dock. Quite refreshing!

Not quite as shower to bathe in but a shower nonetheless.

I haven't showered ashore ever. No matter how many people we've had. I just keep track of how quickly we go through water and top off as needed. Since you have two tanks you can get a good idea as to how quickly you go through one and plan your filing up around that.

Edit - I did shower at scrub once..

Matt, I'm with you. We hit the shower at CYOA and we hit Scrub once. The other options have been a bit too sketchy for me. You can get a fresh towel and wash cloth at Scrub and the big marble bath room is rather Liberace-esque in a fun way.

The VGYC has undergone a lot of changes. When we first came in 1985 the complex that it is in with Bucks was owned and operated by Little Dix. That is when it was still a Rock Resort. It was kept in great condition and the store was clean and well stocked. Since it has sold the building itself has been allowed to deteriorate and the bathroom facilities have had only the barest of maintenance. Kind of like an old grand dame that is showing her age. Still my favorite place but needs a little TLC

We love the showers at Nanny Cay. Since we keep our boat there we have used them quite often. The showers at Scub are nice as well.

My personal preference is to always shower on the boat. I am less than impressed with the shower 'offerings' on shore, and never know what I am stepping into.
I was taught on my initial trip in 2000, by a great skipper (now my husband), that the squirt, stop, lather, stop, rinse, towel method can be very refreshing and does not take that much water. I think most guests will comply when they understand water is in short supply.
I would much rather fill the tanks at VG mid trip and continue on. We are sailing, snorkeling and swimming all day.....I just want the salt off.
Others may disagree, but this is my $0.02 worth.

sail2wind, you know the Scrub Island experience! You walk in after a week on the boat with a stop at Leverick and you walk into the marina head at Scrub with the enormous bath sheet and, well, wow, that's a lot of marble and expensive fixtures and a/c. I may have even spotted a rhinestone. It was the best part of Scrub, better than the marina, restaurants, pool, swim up pool bar or any of the other guests. We did like the staff at Scrub.

When my 17 yo daughter came back from her three week BVI sail trip with Lifeworks she really missed her transom showers. Really the only time we take a shower in our shower off of our main head is when we're in a marina. Though, I've been tempted to slip below and shower when there is a cat's worth of charter guests moored 20 feet off of our stern. But, hey, if they want to watch the show let them.

On our recent sailing school trip, we showered on shore at Sydney's Peace & Love once. Frankly, I found it more of a pain to cart my clean clothes, towel, shampoo etc. ashore than just shower off the back of the boat.

The showers at Myett's in CGB are right in the middle of the garden and near the bar, with people walking by. They're (mostly) enclosed, but if you're overly shy you might be a little uncomfortable. Personally I think it's a fun experience you don't get in many other places The last time I stayed at Rhymer's we had to use Myett's showers anyway because the shower in our room didn't work! LOL

A BIG +1 on learning to shower off the back of the boat. My favorite all time shore showers have to be the now extinct unisex shower facility on the dock in Gustavia St Barths.
Having elegant European ladies dressing and primping next to stunned unshaven male sailors in the big mirrored common room was decadent hyperbole - and imagining the naked showering occurring in the stall next to you fed many erotic fantasies for many of us in days gone by.
They were free and the water was plentiful too.

First time I used the St Barth's showers, I didn't realize what was up until I walked out of the shower in my towel and there were 4 or 5 ladies half dressed (it was St Barth's, after all) down at the other end of the big mirror wall.

I just kept very quiet so I wouldn't scare them away.

I certainly had the cleanest crew members - of both sexes - when we were anchored in St Barths. Good for morale.
