Hi, I will be sailing for two weeks. Week one is SVI, week two is BVI. Does anyone know of laundry service or a place to do ones laundry near Sopers Hole? What about STT near the ferry?.Thanks!

We use the laundry at Crown Bay on STT.

We have had success with the front desks blessing paying the laundry staff at Scrub to do wash. We get a slip mid trip. Most of the crew appreciates all the sheets and towels washed and dried along with all the shirts and shorts. When we hit the dock, we ask for laundry options and all the dirty and wet comes off the boat.

Can you share more info on this location? When we were at Sopers about 3 weeks ago we asked 2 different people and each told us we had to taxi to the nearest place, which we did.

We would prefer to skip the taxi and love to know about this secret.

Thanks.

I think you'll find its past Voyage..just past "Scaramouche"...a great place to relax while doing laundry..had another terrific lunch there yesterday and it looks like the Poker Run may be using it as a stopover..

Mal, Is that one open again? Are you thinking of the one that was behind the old Marina Market? When we sold Rush in June of '13 it had been closed for at least a couple of years.

Hey Manpot

I looked for the laundry facility last week around Scaramouche and found nothing. Can you describe specifically where it is? I asked locals, store owners and other while down at that end of the dock. The typical answer was it had closed and was in the back of the building that Scaramouche now occupies.

I also walked all around Scaramouche and looked up the hill to the right from the boat launch. It didn't seem like that was the correct direction.

This would have been a LOT more convenient than thanking a cab to the facility down the road.

Thanks!

We tried The Scrubba washbag in January for our 2-week sail. It's a decent idea and works, but the product is a bit flimsy. We got a refund. A dry bag will do just as well and beats using the sink.

Rick, thanks for your post on the scrubba, I was considering it but will take your advice and not buy one. I used a dry bag, I put a plastic "dryer ball" along with swim trunks and T shirts a bit of soap and it seemed to work fine. The dryer ball was for scrubbing action.

I now have a 5 gallon bucket with a water tight screw on lid, haven't tried it yet but plan to just put dirty clothes in it, a bit of soap, fresh water and hang it off the transom overnight.

Near Sopers Hole there is a lady who does laundry named Emma. Her laundry is just up the road between sopers and sea cow. Just ask anyone in Sopers about Emma and they will give you the 411. You can have her do it for you or u se her machines as well.

Mardi Gras, I like the bucket approach but don't want to have to store it. The dry bag stores flat and used very little water, so we're going that direction. Works well enough, better if you pretreat any spots. I can't seem to use a grill without getting a couple of spots on me.

Teammac, I believe it was Emma's where I did laundry.

She's getting some new machines and seemed excited about them, although she's loosing her favorite dryers. The large single units. She says they dry the best and fastest.
