Avid lover of the BVI's - 06/08/2015 06:01 PM

Hello Sailors and fellow BVI friends,

I am getting ready for wheels up in 48 hours and I am super excited to be back to the islands. I have been going for about 10 years now but haven’t been there in the last 2 years. My husband has been sailing down there since 2000. I wanted to see if you had any recommendations for me for restaurants and any new spots that might have opened in the last couple of years. I recently started a personal food & travel blog called Reina’s Raves where I will share my personal good experiences. I sure will blog about this trip and was hoping to see what some of your favorite spots where, why and what are some of the favorites dishes that you like from that particular spot.

You can Follow me on Facebook -- Reina's Raves or Check out my Blog at http://www.reinasraves.squarespace.com

I'm excited and really appreciate your support!

Cheers
Reina

Welcome back to the BVI! Fish & Lime and Scaramouche are relatively new and located in Soper's Hole. Both are worth a visit!

Coco Maya on virgin Gorda is a favorite of ours. We also love the BBQ Friday nights at leverick. Just a fun overall event with good food too.

I am hearing GREAT things about the Wonky Dog on Anegada.....can't wait to try it! For me, you cannot beat the Taboo Burger at Foxy's Taboo - perfectly cooked, tasty burger with pepper jack cheese and mango chutney! If you would have told me what was on it before I ordered it, I may not have ordered it....but someone that I was with asked me what I wanted and I said "just order me a burger"....when I bit into it, it was FANTASTIC.

There's supposed to be a great BBQ place on the hill on Virgin Gorda.
Hog heaven, I think?
There's a new resort in Anegada called the Anegada Beach Club. We missed it last trip, but have heard good things. I'm stuck in a rut - I still like The Big Bamboo and Cow Wreck.

definitely go to Scaramouche if you are doing a food blog!!! If you can get there when they are doing fine dining upstairs that is a must do for sure. Even if they are not serving upstairs put it on the list, they are really doing some amazing things there. This is not your Italian grandmothers meatballs, food porn from their lastest FB post:

I forgot about the B-Line on Little Jost! We had excellent ribs there last fall. At that point, they were only serving food on the weekends though.

Second to the scewers at Taboo. Soooo good.

And Abe's for lobster. Not exactly fine dining but you won't leave hungry.

I also love to eat at least once at the Sugar Mill when on Tortola. Never ever had a bad meal and the coconut icecream is to die for!

Peter island has an excellent buffet on Saturday nights. $87 + 18% I think. I agree with all of the suggestions above, especially coco Maya (thanks Matt) and Wonky Dog.

If looking for good food, you have to try the Clubhouse Restaurant on Frenchman's Cay.

Lovely spot, wonderful views, great service and excellent food. An extensive wine list as well.

I haven't had anything I don't care for yet. Well that's not actually true ... I will admit that I don't care for the potato patties offered at breakfast, but that's about it.

Hog Heaven on Virgin Gorda is a definite "don't miss". Good simple food (ribs and chicken are both really good) at reasonable prices.

I have too many "favourites" to list. It might be easier if you give us your itinerary and then we can suggest places that correspond to where you'll be.

We returned to VG this February after a 6 yr break.

We really enjoyed Hog Heaven. Went for lunch once, drinks three times and take out once. Like someone else said, solid, simple, tasty food at a good price. The view and afternoon breezes were wonderful.

We also like Coco Maya. You need to embrace the small plates concept, something my hubby doesn't love. Over two visits, we enjoyed a lot of different things. Only one "miss" and that was some sort of sliders.

Locals kept recommending Saucez but it wasn't open any of the times we stopped by. Looks like it has take out promise.

Heading back to VG ourselves after 5-year break. Looking forward to checking out Hog Heaven and Coco Maya but haven't heard anyone mention Saucez. What is that???

Sydney's is great but, if I go to Little Harbour I head to Harris' Place to see Cynthia....she is an incredible hostess!

We loved the lobster at Sydney's. Much better lobster than Anegada Reef Hotel.

The lobster at Sydney's is Great! As I recall, the lobster tail at Foxy's was very tough and over cooked. However, you can't go to the BVI's and not visit Foxy : ) Always a great time!!
