Showers on and off. Went to Orient anyway because the rain clouds looked like they had already been there.
Beach quiet, somewhat calm. Lunched at Wai Plague. I only had aptz of acrass, a little on the salty side. Hubby had skewered chicken. We shared the acrass and I ate one chicken skewer and left the other two for him. The sauce that came with it was delicious but a little on the hot side. Not many on the beach. People seemed to be concentrated nearer laPlaya end,
When we left we drove out on the Orient Naturale side. Not too many people there either. Back to BSV for another nap.
Dinner was at Moulin Fou. Maho. Maybe I’ve just eaten at too many five star restaurants but I was not impressed. The food was good, tasty, but nothing exciting . I’ve read people here compare it to the restaurants of Grand Case but it in no way met anything like places such as Le Pressoir, Bistrot Caribes, Sol e Luna.
Hubby had filet de boeuf. Cooked as ordered and tasty. Mashed potatoes served in a drink glass and you could drink them down they were so liquid. Carrot puréed with cumin served in a shot glass. I had lamb shank that fell off the bone, a little bland served with the same sides. Wine list is very limited so we ordered just a glass each of sharaz and got served merlot. Bill was $106.
We had made a reservation for inside. Place is small and a bit dingy. As I looked around I thought the place should change name to Moulin Rouge. Too much red. Three tables filled outside where there was no breeze. Glad we chose. Inside with a/c.
Apologies to those who love this place. I don’t think I could say maybe it was an off night, only that for the money not for me. For four years. I’ve had it on my list and finally got there. Wish I’d gone elsewhere.
Casino was dead! We parked in garage across the street $1.00 per hour. It’s very dark in there and scary.

Sad to read these comments. Le Moulin Fou has been a true favorite of ours for quite a while but we also noticed what we thought was a slight decline in both food quality and service - not enough to comment negatively on but just not up to our expectations based on all our earlier visits. Hopefully they will up their game to match their past reputation.
Respectfully,
pat

We had a nice dinner there last November, with some great meals and decent, although a bit slow, service. I agree that it doesn't match the best restaurants in Grand Case, but we've had some lovely dinners over the years and liked being able to get nice French food without the drive to GC. We always eat outside because that's one of the pleasures of being on the island and I agree that the inside doesn't look as inviting. In. November, the ruins of Cheri’s made the outside less appealing though. My feeling on our last visit was that they were still trying to get back to their best after the long pandemic downturn.

I agree it doesn't compare to Grand Case or some places in Orient Village, for that matter, but it is a lot more convenient for the Dutch side. We ate inside with some island friends one time, because SHE preferred a/c , but I much prefer outside also. Looking at the ruins of Cheri's was more enjoyable than listening to it live!!

We are not big fans of Moulin Fou, went there twice over the years. First time food was OK, not spectacular. Second time was a deal breaker for us. Ordered food, after while DH got his dinner and I was told mine was coming right out. Waited, waited, started to help DH with his dinner as was hungry. Finished with his dinner, waiter comes over and asks how was our meals. Told him I never got mine, he said he will go check on it. Told him I don’t want it now, just the check please. Check came with both dinners on it, told him I am not paying for my dinner and he better take it off. He was not very happy but took it off. I don’t think we will be back. Luda

Funny - it was last November for us also when we had our first less than stellar evening there. We were with good friends and their company more than made up for the short-comings we experienced. I was willing to give the benefit of doubt to the establishment since it was the first time we experienced it but given the recent comments on top of our own experience I’m doubting I’ll be in a big hurry to head back there.

I just have to comment on your name "Seashanty". That was the name of our yacht before we renamed it "Saturday Night Special ". Brought back fond memories of past enjoyable days. 😁👍 Nice. We (FatCat04 is my wife and she posts a lot more) actually love the sea shanties at our local fest, hence the name. Even us land locked pirates gotta sing our songs.

Great to see that your back on island again and look forward to hearing all about it. Enjoy!! We're not to far behind you. This is an old thread from 2022.... Oops. My mistake. I thought it was new because we met them around this time last year.
