Tipping a skipper on a Bareboat charter
      #1732338 - 05/08/17 09:15 AM (204.76.30.253)

Sorry if this has been covered before but couldn't find in search. What is the standard tip for a bareboat captain Is it based on the Charter fee or the skipper fee? Thanks!

Search isn't always my friend either LOL. We have a capt hired for our upcoming trip. I asked the charter company and they said $50 a day is a good starting point...if you are super happy with them more.

Is that $50 a day just for the tip?

Yes, 50.00 a day is a starting point for the tip on top of what we are paying the charter company for the capt fee.

I thought that was reasonable starting point....am I wrong?
Oh...and that is not per couple :) We have 3 couples so I am thinking we will make the math easy.

Generally $5,000 a week, breakfast in bed and overnights in a suite at Scrub is "industry standard", if you ask the "industry".

We just did this - we tipped based on skipper fee - I think it was $300 tip for the week - seemed reasonable to us.
