This is a great opportunity to sail the pristine waters of the Virgin Islands for a minimum of 4 weeks a year. For $6000 ($5000 buy-in plus ˝ of the 2015 maintenance fee) you get 1/8 ownership share in a 1998, 33ft. Beneteau monohull sailboat with 2 cabins plus salon (…can sleep up to 6, but 4 is ideal). The boat has undergone many upgrades / refurbishment in 2014 including new mast / boom, new standing rigging, new running rigging, new mail sail, new sail cover, new lazy jacks and new dingy motor. The genoa and bimini are in good condition and a new chartplotter, autopilot and an upgraded Yanmar diesel were added over the last few years. The hull was scraped and painted in the fall of 2014. It has all the necessary linens and cookware for comfortable living aboard.
Brigadoon is permanently docked at Manuel Reef Marina in Sea Cows Bay, Tortola BVI (next to Nanny Cay, where it “goes on the hard” for periodic maintenance). Manuel Reef has a laundry, small (fully stocked) store, rest rooms with showers, a chandlery, rental car company and a very nice restaurant. Access to the dock / slip from Sir Frances Drake Channel is easy and unimpeded.
The boat is operated as a partnership LLC with operating agreement and on-line scheduling calendar. Times of use are flexible with 2 peak weeks guaranteed (Nov. to April) and 2 off-peak weeks May, June, July and October. Extra weeks are available once all members schedule their time each season. The yearly maintenance fee is $2000 and can be paid quarterly. This covers insurance, BVI fees, repairs, dockage and haul-out of the boat. So this works out to $500 for a full week of sailing …. much less than the cost of chartering. The current owners are extremely happy with the arrangement knowing that they own a sailboat in the Virgin Islands … cost effectively paying for what they use. And any time the boat goes out, an owner must be onboard … no chartering. Sailing experience and a sailing resume are required for approval from the partnership.
