Well here I am again. A little late but loaded with information. Had a couple more friends arrive today , mostly from the NY/NJ area. But there were a few from other places. Our group is now very large. But it appears we are going to be breaking off into individual groups. Weather remains beautiful, without a drop of rain today.
This evening was Saturday date night for myself and my best friend. Tonight’s dinner had been planned since Christmas time. A late present for her. Our restaurant of choice for the night was Saratoga. Those of you who know, Saratoga is one of the top restaurants on the island, certainly on the Dutch side. Our table was right on the water and as close to perfect as you can expect. This was the start of a very wonderfully romantic evening. It Started off with drinks which were very nicely done. We decided to order appetizers and split them. I ordered the linguine primavera, which came with red peppers and carrots. Her appetizer was Lobster Risotto with peas and mushrooms, which was the tastiest risotto we had tasted in a long time. Entrees were the barbequed Chicken with pineapple salsa, which came with fingerling potatoes , a marvelous cole slaw. I had the Port Tenderloin with a magnificent gravy and some perfectly done vegetables. It was very good and the meat was melt in your mouth soft. Our deserts were very good with mine bordering on criminally delicious. She had the sherbert trio which was lemon, mango and raspberry. I had the pear tart, which is first a work of art and secondly mind-blowingly delicious. It is a poached pear in a wonderfully light pastry with a crème that was sort of a whipped crème/meringue mixture, soft, smooth and sweet. All in all one fantastic desert. All in all, and I say this not knowing how else to say it a boring 5 out of 5. It seems each night this trip we’ve been pleasantly surprised at the quality of food we’ve now almost come to expect each night. Now Saratoga is an expensive night out. Our check came to $230 for the 2 of us, but we knew it would be a big night out. They have a great menu and are rated highly by almost everyone who does those things, so when you come here you can expect to have a wonderful meal. The wait staff was both efficient and pleasant. Expect nothing less when dining at Saratoga.
