You probably missed this part of the story. Agence France Presse (AFP) reported that Turquin (68) was condemned in 1997 in Nice for the murder of his eight-year-old son Charles Edouard. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The body of the boy was never found and Turquin had always claimed his innocence.
His appeals were rejected, but in July 2006, he was released on parole after serving 10 years of his sentence.
