Carol, while I'm not sure if you can transfer your Marriot points directly to AA, you can transfer them to Starwood, and then to AA. But the value is 3 Marriot to 1 Starwood. I have the AMEX as well and the 80,000 Starwoods points are worth a ton when moved over to Marriot.
