After a long absence, our family has begun planning a BVI based bareboat charter for July 2018.

Our youngest son, who has been with us on 6 sailing trips and has been pushing us for this return trip, is now 23 and besides sailing very much enjoys camping and hiking. He's thinking about tacking on some days on St. John to camp and explore the National Park. He'll be solo since the rest of us will be heading home.

Besides recommendations for campsites, I'm also wondering if there are typically others around St. John that time of year. Being solo, without others for company at the campsite to go with on hikes, probably wouldn't make for an interesting stay. Are there any shutdowns that time of the year?

We're from Texas so July heat isn't a big issue. He went camping this weekend near San Antonio where it has been over 100.

Any advice for me to pass along to him would be appreciated! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thanks.gif" alt="" />
