St Martin April 5-19 2011

Tuesday April 5…We got up at 2:30 for our 6 am flight out of STL. We arrived in Miami on time just 3 gates down from our departure gate…..however too early to eat at our favorite restaurant in the airport, Islander bar and grill. Our flight was delayed an hour making our arrival to SXM an hour late. Immigration was a breeze. We Picked up the luggage…found Triple AAA car rental and were on our way. Alain has a new building located just behind sunset beach bar…lovely place!!! We rented the car for $150 a week plus tax. We drove to club Orient with one tiny mistake…adding about 15 minutes to the drive. Checked in…got room 148. We walked to the beach to tag our chairs. The beach was in great shape. We unpacked and went to dinner at papaguyo. We had French onion soup and a Caesar salad. The New menu is quite good. We came back to the chalet and hooked to the internet to play my Facebook games…..only to discover that they would not load. So frustrated…my crops needed to be harvested!!!! I could not play my games for the 2 weeks…and last year I had no problem. I think they have reduced the band width allowed. There was a statement on the hook up to the internet paper that said in the future for an additional cost better internet service will be provided. I was extremely disappointed. We went to bed but got no sleep…Steve had come down with a terrible cold and sore throat and could not stop coughing…bless his heart.

Wednesday April 6…purple day We got up at 6 to take pix. We had breakfast on the patio. Put our stuff on the beach chairs…and went to the US Super Marché for groceries. Spent 185 euros…WOW at 1.45 exchange this is going to be an expensive trip!!! Had lunch at papaguyo… shared a cheeseburger in Paradise and onion rings!!! Had dinner at papaguyo…CRAB LEGS!!!! We shared an appetizer of escargot.

Thursday April 7-green day Had breakfast on the patio, lunch on the patio and while dressing for dinner…Friends arrived and were put next door! Great to see them! Then other friends we expected to arrive Sunday surprised us by arriving 3 days early!!! We all had dinner in Grand case at Piazza Pascal…a new place for us. The dinner was Very good and 1 for 1 which makes the price bearable. Steve had veal masalas and I had lasagna. We shared an appetizer of wild mushroom and a dessert of tiramisu.

Friday-April 8 our 39th anniversary!!! Yellow day Took our pix, ate breakfast and lunch on the patio then to sunset beach café for sunset pix and dinner. Steve had salmon and I had coc au VIN. We shared an appetizer of mint shrimp. The dinner was mediocre at best. We went to papaguyo for after dinner drinks.

Saturday April 9 leopard day Pix, breakfast on the patio, lunch on the patio, and dinner at Ti bouchon. MoMo was once again a gracious host. we were the only patrons for the evening. We both had miso soup with lobster ravioli for appetizers and sea bream for dinner. All was delicious. One for one.

Sunday April 10 silver day Breakfast and lunch on the patio. Dinner with friends at California. We had French onion soup and chicken kabob...both was ok…not great. One for one.

Monday…April 11 white day Breakfast and lunch at the room. We attended the manager’s wine and cheese party then had Spaghetti dinner on the patio with friends next door. Best meal of the week!

Tuesday April 12 Lime green day Breakfast at the room. Very overcast and rainy…went to us super Marche to restock groceries. Cheeseburger and onion rings at papaguyo for lunch….so good! Dinner at sol e Lune. We shared calamari appetizer, filet mignon with mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes and a sample dessert tray. OMG it was all INCREDIBLE!!!!!! We bought a bottle of passion fruit and apricot rum…yummy! Very expensive dinner but this place has never disappointed us.

Wednesday April 13 orange day Breakfast and lunch at room. Sky’s the limit for dinner. We had ribs plate and chicken plate. Delicious! $21.

Thursday April 5 aqua day Breakfast and lunch at room. Papaguyos for buffet dinner…Caribbean night. Caribbean dancers MAGNIFICENT!

Friday red day Poured down rain…breakfast and lunch room, dinner papaguyo… mussels and lobster

Saturday blue day breakfast and lunch room. Dinner at IL nettuno with friends. Lobster ravioli appetizer, Chicken masala and veal parmesan for our entrée. Service was TERRIBLE!!!

Sunday pink day Breakfast and lunch at room. Dinner at friend’s chalet… pasta

Monday black day Croissants for breakfast. Papaguyo cheeseburger for lunch. WE attended the managers wine and cheese party. I bought some jewelry from one of the vendors. Papaguyo French onion soup and spaghetti Bolognese for dinner.

Tuesday home. Flight at 8 am to Miami. Lunch at build a burger….NOT a cheeseburger in paradise!!! Got home about 6 pm to find we had suffered a great deal of hail damage to our home and truck that morning. Welcome home and back to the real world.

We will not be going to St. Martin in 2012. We are going to Hawaii to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
