Take a look at Maho Beach. Sometimes massive boulders can be seen and other times they are covered with sand. Probably pretty much the same on many beaches. I know the beach area on Simpson Bay Beach has a lot of rock ledges that are usually not visible. Personally, I would wear and suggest wearing some kind of water sandal if doing much other than walking along the edge of the water.
