There isn't a Canary island. There's a group of Canary Islands. The main ones are Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Lanzarote, but there are some other smaller ones which are accessible by ferry. The character of the various islands is quite different. Gran Canaria is a fairly uninhibited place, popular with gay and lifestyle (swinger) tourists. Fuerteventura has by far the best beaches, but not much nightlife. Tenerife has generally poor beaches, but a lot of package-holiday tourists looking for cheap food and cheap drinks. Lanzarote also has a big contingent of cheap package holiday tourists. If you're going in February, the weather should be OK, but might not be warm enough for sunbathing on the beach.
