Day 20 "Fun in the Sun"
I can't believe I have kept up with these mini reports! First time ever for me!
The day began with abundant clouds and threatening showers so we didn't make firm plans based on that. We decided to start the day with breakfast with Ken at the Ocean Club Bar and Grill and go from there. Just as we were leaving Pelican Key, the rain started and lasted until we arrived there.
There were several people dining there and the reason was obvious. We had the full breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs , 2 bacon, 2 toast, home fried potatoes, coffee and fresh fruit all for only $8.00! A great deal and really delicious! If you haven't tried it, stop by and you will be glad you did.
It was raining again when it was time to leave and since we had thought we might go to Cupecoy today, we decided against that! Instead we used the time to tour around and look at some villas in Simpson Bay and Beacon Hill; something we don't usually take the time to do on a sunny day. The sky was heavy with dark clouds and we declared this to really be a full blown rainy day! The first for us in three weeks so really not bad at all.
We returned to the condo around noon and decided to do some laundry and pack a few things for our trip home on Tuesday. Nothing like being prepared early! We had a light lunch of crackers, cheese, sliced meat and fruit and spent the afternoon listening to island music and drinking freshly made mango coladas. Sometimes it is just nice to spend some quiet time with your honey and cast your cares to the wind and the rain!
By 7:00 P.M. we were starting to feel like it was time for dinner so we went out to IZI for the evening meal. It was still raining lightly and we were lucky to get a parking spot close to the door. There were about 30 people dining there tonight and the service was excellent! We each had a glass of wine and I chose the "create your own entree" with organic whole wheat penne with the alfredo sauce and chicken strips with lots of parmesan cheese and David chose the Chicken Parmigiana with penne pasta. For dessert we chose the chocolate molten cake and ice-cream which was delicious. Two complimentary glasses of Lemoncello was brought to the table following dinner. The entire meal was $70 including service charge. I love this little restaurant and always enjoy dining there!
When we left the restaurant, there was lots of water on some of the roads, but the rain seemed to have tapered off. We decided to stop at Hollywood Casino to help the local economy, but we both ended up as winners tonight so no help from us tonight! We had a most enjoyable evening and another great day in spite of the unfavorable weather!
Tomorrow will be our last full day on the island so we will have to make the most of it! Well I guess we always do that, so no change there!
P.S. Just as we were going to bed around 2:00 A.M., we felt a vibration under our feet and didn't really think too much about it at the time. This morning we discovered there was an earthquake here at that time and it registered 4.3 and was about 32 miles from St. Maarten! Did winning at the casino cause that?
