Saturday began as a partly cloudy day and quickly turned mostly cloudy and then rainy. It looked like it might be a bust, but around noon it cleared out enough to head to the beach. Even though it was pretty cloudy most of the day, we still had a nice time at Karakter with Todd and MJ. Also nice to see Patty again! We took a walk up to Tahoma, but there wasn’t much activity there; Karakter was busier than you would think on an iffy day. We had appetizers when we first got there: I had my favorite cocoanut shrimp and David had their goat cheese bruschetta. Todd and MJ had the bacon-wrapped plantains and dates, and bitterballen. It was all delicious, as everything always is there. After a few drinks on the beach, we had lunch. Todd and I had the sun-dried tomato quiche, MJ the Mediterranean Character, and David the pineapple-chicken kabobs served with seasoned rice and veggies.

We headed home around 4, cleaned up, and drove down to White Flag for one last night of cocktails with our friends. We were the only ones there, so we tried to make it worth Natalie’s while to be open. Her special was 2 for 1 martinis, and we shared several along with her delicious smoked meat sandwiches. I’m not a big red meat eater, but I could eat those every day! Elaine arrived later after listening to Ronny play at BBB, and we all enjoyed a nice time, in spite of a couple of rain showers that send us inside the bar.

It’s pretty cloudy this morning, but I think it will clear!
