We have split vacations on SXM into one week Dutch another on French side. For us it lowers need to drive through some of the worse traffic on the island. We love dining in Grand Case, Orient Village, and near Pinel Ferry. We hate driving to those areas so we stay in Grand Case one week so we're closer.

This past March trip we stayed two weeks at Beachside and while I could stay there forever, I missed Grand Case and Orient Village in the evenings.

We pack light so shoving things back into a carry-on for the move doesn't bother us. Of course in years when we stayed at Divi we would have to pack up anyway and move to another unit for 2nd week if we weren't lucky to find the one we were in to be available (not TS).
