In French, le and la are both used for “the” and represent the masculine and feminine variants that French uses. French makes a distinction between "masculine and feminine objects", people use le for masculine things/persons and la for feminine things/persons I remember the Le and La and that they are the equivalent of the English word ‘the’ but it’s distinguishing which proper noun is which that causes me the problems. I can’t think in terms of a door being feminine but a dog being masculine. And besides which, it’s been waaaay too many years since I aced my NY high school French III regents exam. 😄😄
