Visiting this beautiful continent is one of the most remarkable experiences of my life.
When our dear friends moved there from BVI and were lonely , all that was required was an offer to come visit and our plane tickets were booked .

Coastal Kenyan living is gorgeous...who knew that white sand pristine beaches awaited us. Certainly not me .

So three weeks away in the dead of Canadian winter in February to a fascinating place has left me longing for new and different adventures.

Our first week we decided to do a short 3 day 2 night safari ...I highly recommend this one...ol Siki Mara from Hemingway , nestled in the incredible Naboisho Conservancy ....this is the trip advisor review I wrote ...

This was our first safari and it will be very hard to beat!! From the moment we landed until the afternoon we left we were treated like queen and king. It was very obvious that this establishment is indeed the 5 star experience it promotes. After being picked up by the amazing Patrick our guide at the air strip we knew instantly we were in for a treat. Wildebeests, zebra and giraffes welcomed us to the experience as we found our way to the camp. We were then promptly shown to our very comfortable tent and David the attentive manager gave us the details of how our next 3 days and 2 nights would work. After settling in for a bit and marvelling at the beautiful surroundings including a pride of lions feasting from our binocular view from our balcony , we headed to the dining tent for our first delicious meal at Ol Siki. Oh my we will not go hungry here . Food quality and quantity is superb. It was a treat to meet and get to know the other safari goers at meal times around the beautifully set table and skilled staff that we would get to know over the next few days...our glasses never went empty . Afternoon game drives start at 4:30 we had a chance after lunch to relax and explore the area a bit. Our first game drive far surpassed our expectations and we were delighted at the number and proximity of the many animals we would see. Our guide Patrick was a wealth of knowledge and we learned so so much from him. In awe , we returned back to camp shortly before sunset to ready ourselves for dinner. Very important to not leave your tent unaccompanied after dark and they will advise you to shine your light once ready. This resort is not fenced so be aware of your surroundings and listen to the directions. The dinner experience was equally fantastic and we feasted on appetizer, delicious soup , main course and lovely desert. Conversations while dining were delightful. David joining us a meal time helped to facilitate the interactions. We were so happy that no wifi was available at the meal tent so adult conversation was the norm versus attention to cell phones. The next day started with coffee and warm milk at our tent at 6 AM with gentle wake up call. Insulated mug of joe accompanied us on the drive. Morning sunrise game drive from 6:30-9 and breakfast
at 9:30 . A break until 1 , at which time a bountiful lunch served again. We decided to go to the Massai village and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Patrick shared his knowledge of the culture and it was amazing to sit in the mud hut and learn about how these incredible people live. Another afternoon game drive , incredible diner followed by an evening game drive completed our full day. We so enjoyed our experience that I can't recommend this place enough. We met so many fantastic people who are totally committed to their job. We met folks there who were returning for their 3rd time. It would be a place to go back to for sure . Thank you David , Patrick and the incredible staff for your attention to detail and making this experience amazing for us.”

The next two weeks were spent balancing sitting around the pool, walking the beaches with exploring the culture ...all surreal and enlightening. Kenya is amazing ....

.......And that’s why we return again in a few weeks
