We have never rented a car in Puerto Vallarta, taxi's and buses are very inexpensive. We have never changed our money, we use credit cards for everything, and leave tips in US dollars. If you make an ATM withdrawal you will receive pesos. We have not been to Mexico in several years, we used to go every Thanksgiving.
