You're probably referring to Honokohau beach which used to be a nude/gay beach but now has public facilities and the rangers enforce the no public nudity laws. There are still a couple of remote beaches in the Kona area where nudity is practiced but they typically involve hikes over lava fields and/or the need for a 4 wheel drive vehicle to access them.
