We spent a wonderful week Le Galion Resort located in Oyster Pond, French St. Martin at the end of October prior to staying 3 more weeks at a villa above Orient Beach. Le Galion is a small hillside place with just 4 units consisting of 3 pool-side bungalows and one studio on an upper level (great view, larger). The pool is clothing optional, nice and warm (86F) while we were there. It is owned and operated by a "tres gentile" French couple who were very friendly to us, to the extent allowed by our limited French and their limited English. There was only 1 other couple there during our stay, they were from France, our age (50's) and lots of fun to (try and) talk to. Pluses: quiet and peaceful, reasonable rates, lovely grounds, scenic views, clean comfortable rooms, nice kitchenette, excellent pool, close to Orient Beach where we usually headed in late morning after relaxing by and in the pool for a couple of hours. Negatives: mosquitoes in and near the room in the evenings and early mornings (netting provided over the beds), no air conditioning but was ok with the ceiling fan blowing on us. The approach is more like short-term apartment rental as opposed to a hotel, i.e. limited service, but the result is more privacy and serenity. We'd recommend it to anyone seeking rest and relaxation, a non-threatening introduction to naturism and/or a sampling of French culture in the balmly Caribbean. Here's the website:
