Huh. I certainly don't remember seeing that requirement before. But as you said, what happens if you don't have email?
I think almost everyone these days has a smart phone and there is plenty of free wifi around. Worst case, I'm sure your favorite waiter or waitress would let you use their phone to login to your email. Honestly, this part is not that burdensome at all.
