Feb. 6- Left NJ in ice and snow, 1hr late to de-ice the plane. Made up time in flight and had no connection problems in San Juan on American Eagle until we reach Beef Island. A rain strom made it impossible after two tries to land and we had to go to St. Thomas for refueling Finally got to our boat at 4:30 pm instead of 2pm. Boat looks good, cushions were redone in the salon. Ate dinner at the Pub and met Dick, Louise, Jan and Rich They were on a boat chartered from St. Thomas and were in a mooring for the nite to ride out the weather (breezy).
Feb. 7- SAiled off to Norman Island using only the jib. It was a quick ride to the caves for some great snorkeling. Went into the Pirates Bight and saw Dick, Louise and crew having drinks, celebrating his 60th birthday . We had a few with them and went back to Wildcat to make dinner, then returned to the Bight to talk them into drinks at the Willie T's, but by this time they were feeling no pain after all it was Capt. Dick birthday. So off we went to the Willie T's not thinking that they would make it. We were there no more than 5 mins. when Capt. Dick & crew pulled up. Then things got crazy (as you'll see in the few pics I posted ). They were some funny people.
Feb. 8 Sailed early in hopes of missing the heavier breeze (Louise later told us it gusted up to 40 when they left later in the day) We encountered some wild big swells going downwind towards West End, pretty wild but managed to sail over to Diamond Cay and checked out Taboo. Nice place, menu looked great. Snorkeled and saw a barracuda and sting ray. Had lunch on board then sailed off to Cane Garden Bay to pick up friends that evening.
Feb. 9- Up early, saw Mama Cocha leaving the bay with young, good looking, tanned bodies onboard, oh and the boat looked great. Off to Guana Ialand, its windy, 6 ft seas. It is actually cold, cloudy too! Everbody is cold, Tom is the only one in the water. Now it gusting to over 30 on our way to Marina Cay. Skies cleared and the wind died down some. Saw Michael Bean's show-had a blast.
Feb. 9- Off to North Sound. Put double reef in the main and unfurled the jib. Had to head first towards Ginger then tacked over to point to the Dogs. Rough sail-Breezy, breezy, breezy Did I mention the swells? and the water over the bows? Snorkeled at Great Dog and onto the Sound
Feb. 11- Hiked Biras Creek, beautiful view then did some shopping at Bitter End. Ate dinner onboard and later to Saba Rock for drinks
Feb. 12- Sea and wind look a little calmer and we reach over to Anegada. Just as we approach, a rain shower and visibility gets low. The boat in front of us turns around and we are left to lead in. The first two Red's are present alone with the last Green. Had our pick off moorings. Sun came out and we went to shore. Took cab to Cow Wreck (never been there)- beautiful, took a nice long walk and had lunch there. Returned to boat, showered and started one long happy hour. Larry overserved himself with drinks, got really loud and fell into the water getting into the dingy and fell back into the water while rinsing off. He was in rare form. Ate great lobster at ARH, excellent food, dancing after dinner. Larry knocked Elaine over on the dance floor doing a face plant in the sand. Later Elaine feeling pretty good herself later did a cartwheel and jumped into a split (she's in her 50's). Looked like something you mght feel the next day when you sober up. Larry fell for the forth time, coming out of the bathroom, telling us that some English lady helped him up. Time to take our guests back- a very funny nite.
Feb. 13- Sailed off to the bathes for great snorkeling, then to Trellis for shopping then to Marina Cay for Michael's show for the second time. Larry pouting today as the ribbing about last nites activities continues.
Feb. 14- Sailed around to the caves and Norman Island. Danced at the Willie T and went to Pirates Bight to say goodbye to Randy (bartender) as it was his last nite. We will really miss him.
Feb. 15- Sailed to West End for water. Met previous owner of Wildcat at the dock. Sailed to Great Harbour and Foxy's for dinner and dancing. Great food (barbeque nite) and music. Scott drank many shot's of rum at Wendel's and was feeling good. In bed by 9:30pm. getting earlier each nite.
Feb. 16- Sailed to Sandy Cay-did the walk around the island then off to Little Harbour and Sidney's Peace and Love for dinner. Saw Carol Cox's tee shirt on the bar door. Dinner was good but no music so we went back to the boat for more cocktails and before the bill had to many slashes.
Feb. 17- Sailed back to West End where our friends departed and we went off to Norman Island again. Went for a long walk on some of the new roads. New bathrooms were being worked on and the new gift shop is open. Alot of changes going on.
Feb. 18-19 - Last snorkel at the caves and a afternoon sail into Road Town. Picked up one of Conch's moorings for our last nite. Had dinner at the Pub and back to the boat to attempt to finish off the booze. Next day got our last bit of sun before heading to the airport in late afternoon- great trip. I've posted some pics, the first several are not Scott and I, but from our second nite- Capt. Dick's wild birthday nite at the Willie T's.
