This was our 19th trip to SXM. Two couples, best friends! Got nasal PCR tests on Monday, May 17th. at Passport Health in Sarasota, Fl. Had results the next day. Three negative, one positive. Dang it! The unlucky positive was retested the next day and it came back NEGATIVE! Game on! Left for Miami on Thursday, spent the night at EB Hotel near the airport. We were supposed to fly out at 11:30 on Friday. Received texts from AA on Thursday that our flight would be delayed until 1 pm. Follow up text said we were back on for 11:30. Friday morning, another text saying flight would be delayed until 1 pm, followed by yet another text saying we were back to 11:30. CRAZY!!! We were a little later getting to the airport than we would have liked due to all the confusion. Would have been a problem if we had not been flying business class. With the shorter priority lines and TSA pre check, we were able to get to our gate before boarding started. Smooth flight. Easy getting through immigration and baggage claim. Picked up by the Unity guys and in our rental SUVs in short order. Groceries at Care Four in Cole Bay, off to our villa in Orient Bay. AMAZING view from the pool from Pinel to St Barts! Had our 1st dinner at Le Piment in the village. We have never had a sub-par meal at Le Piment and we LOVE Sarah! Ask for her if you dine there. In all, we ate there 4 nights. Great meals every time! We also had awesome meals at Spiga, Bistro Caraibes (try their lobster thermidor), and Ocean82. Spent one day at Pinel and dined at Karibuni. Ran into Sarah again! She had worked the night before at Le Piment, then the next day at Karibuni, and was back at Le Piment that night. The meal at Karibuni was not up to past trips. Oh well.
We also chartered the 48' Flagship II for an entire day. Just the four of us. (http://www.sxmstmartincatamarancharters.net/) The trip was supposed to be to Anguilla, but due to it's closure we took the cruise around St Martin trip, with stops for snorkeling, food, drink, more food and more drink. Amazing trip! More amazing food! Great hosts!!! Got tested at the pharmacy in Hope Hill on Thursday the 27th. Had our results in 20 minutes or so. Flew home on Sunday, May 30th around 3:30 pm. When we arrived at the airport, the line stretched outside the terminal for at least 150 yards! Once again, we were spared the long wait due to priority boarding! Oh, almost forgot. If you want the best massage of your life, ask for Maria at the far south end of Orient! Great trip! Back again in October!
