Leopard 45, Stargazer is our new addition to Captain’s Compass in Sea Cow Bay. Carol and I were extremely lucky to acquire a 2017 Leopard 45 before it was listed for sale. It is the four cabin plus captain bunk version so if four couples want to charter with a captain on board, this is the boat for you. The phase out and our very thorough survey has resulted in a virtually new boat in perfect condition. Between the slow season after Irma and the BVI closed for a year it has been hardly used. This is truly a wonderful boat. First, lots of room. The galley is roomy and well laid out. It also has a front lounge area that is roomy and can be entered through the front door in the galley. It’s shaded from the sun and at moored, provides great cool breeze. With both the front door and the rear door open, the galley has a wonderful breeze keeping it cool without running the air conditioner. It it’s too warm, the generator runs the air conditioner with no problem. The helm is great. All the riggings run back to the helm where there are two electric winches plus a manual one. The water tanks hold 206 gallons and the fuel tanks hold 185 gallons of fuel. We were down last week to acquire her, go sailing and turn her over to Brent at Captain’s Compass. We had a great time last week. Brent now has two Leopard 45s plus other cats thus offering a nice selection of cats to charter. Brent has a great charter company and is able to provide great rates on well maintained boats. I’ve posted a trip report about our last week’s sailing trip.
