On Thursday afternoon for the first time this trip, we saw seaweed in the water here. Friday morning was the first time they even had to rake, but it wasn't too bad here.

The skies were pretty grey on Friday morning, as they were most of the trip, because of the Sahara dust. We had ONE day that there were a few showers during the day, and a couple of over night showers, but unfortunately for the island, it continued a very dry spell for the island.

For breakfast, we enjoyed a ham and cheese omelette, accompanied by leftover fruit and fried potatoes from Reveil Matin.

YUM!

Friday was once again a very laid back day, as I worked on book #5

and Eric hung out, watched the wind and the waves and the internet. I got a really trivial call from the gal who is watching our office and dispatched that in short order. The maid brought back our clothes which we had sent out to launder. They do a really wonderful job and it comes back either 24 or 48 hours later, cleaned, pressed and so neatly folded! A large basket of clothes was $15 including tip. Well worth it! Just give it to the maid or drop by the housekeeping shack and they take care of it.

As it came time for lunch, we enjoyed grilled chicken and POTATO SALAD grin

and since he was so tired from doing nothing, Eric took a long nap Friday afternoon. It is REALLY tiring doing nothing!! I continued work on my book and we eventually took a shower and headed out to Sublime.

The food at Sublime was pretty darn good. Not NECESSARILY sublime, but pretty darn good. For some reason I was feeling ornery, so I asked the server for GEBE water, which she tried to dissuade me from getting, but did give it to us. We started off with a goat cheese salad, which unlike the one we had at Tropicana the other day, was EXCELLENT. It had some sweetness to it, as well as some candied walnuts and was quite enjoyable.

Eric and I both ended up with steak. He had the ribeye and I the filet.

Both were very well cooked and enjoyable. I could not finish mine and Eric barely managed to finish his, which was huge, maybe 12 to 16 ounces? Due to not finishing my steak, we didn't order a dessert, although I would have liked to.

We asked for a table outside and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting watching the street and enjoying the breezes

only occasionally interrupted by a LOUD car stereo. It could get really hot out there if there was no breeze, but the night was really lovely.

I will go on a rant here and say that I don't know if I want to go back to Sublime. I literally HATED the red lighting. It was impossible to see properly what you were eating and to take a proper picture of it. I told the server the same thing, and she didn't say if they had had similar complaints or not, but I cannot imagine that they have not had similar complaints. They brought out some bread and some tapanade, and it literally looked BLACK in the light and I was afraid to try it. It actually was fine, but the colors were just so off-putting. She said that they were going to, at some point, put the bar outside. I'm not sure how that addressed my issue of the lighting, unless they plan on putting white lighting inside.

After, we went to Hollywood Casino, which is the first time this trip we have been anywhere inside without a mask. It was pretty busy there. They have moved things around, so that the bar is on the right hand side now and the bathrooms were relocated. This is the first time we had been to a casino since the pandemic and it was very nice not to have to deal with cigarette smoke. We left after a couple of hours, down some, but not a huge amount. Overall, a very nice evening.
