Jan 28 On our way
We had a long day of travel ahead of us, and luckily I had booked our first transfer through Charlotte rather than Philadelphia, with all the storm worries on the east coast. I also arranged our timetable to give us a 5 ˝ hour layover in Miami so we could go to Bayside for lunch. Once we arrived at the airport, we took the Mia Mover to the Metrorail station; from there we got off at Government Center and transferred to the People Mover Inner loop, three stops later it was a five minute walk to Bayside.

At Bayside in Miami

This is one of my favorite spots in South Florida, hundreds of shops, live music on the bandstand and many bars and restaurants. We went to The Knife, a Brazilian Steakhouse, with buffet style grilled meats and a whole bottle of wine for each diner. We made it back to the airport in plenty of time, and thanks to the wine I slept all the way to Grenada.
C&I was easy as always, we chatted with some first time visitors and told them about our favorite things to do on the island. Once we cleared in we took one of the many taxis waiting out the door and were soon at our home away from home, the Grand Anse Beach Palace Hotel. Sharon greeted us on arrival and showed us to the room we had requested. We’ve stayed here so many times we no longer have to send a deposit, I asked if she wanted me to come down to the office to pay for the room and she just waved me off saying we can take care of it this week.
It was a welcome relief for Kim to be able to sit outside and have a cigarette without freezing. After such a long day we made it an early night; I left the patio door open so the sound of the waves breaking on the shore below could lull us to sleep.
