If a swell is present, it often bounces back to white bay...if a squall comes in and water comes over reef, you will be up a creek. If deep draft..might well be bouncing on a very hard sand bottom, doing damage..neighbors likely dragging anchor and getting underway and out through the reef in a storm at night, not easy, and likely violates the charter agreement you signed that would not be underway after dark. Some charter companies redline white bay. Some charterers learn it can be a problem the hard way. Some have never had a problem and would say "never mind" to this advice.
