Midweek on United may or may not be an issue with your airline, but a Saturday JB departure definitely was for us. And we weren't in the high part of the season yet. According to the ticket counter people, this was their new norm. In the past we mostly flew AA r/t and once their ticket counter opened and that first morning flight was done, you could check your bags for any flight.
