People have been murdered on the Appalachian Trail, I still hike and sleep in the woods alone. I refuse to live in fear and avoid beautiful places because of what ifs. Be aware of your surroundings, if it doesnt feel right, certainly remove yourself. Travel with a group if that makes you comfortable, but the day I avoid that fort on a beautiful day like that because I felt unsafe? Is the day I give up on everything and double lock my doors and pull down the blinds.
