Our first time in SXM from a cruise ship, we rented an ATV and spent the day driving around the island. Orient and Maho were two (out of many) places we fell in love with that day and we decided to come back for a 10 day vacation. The rest is history I think you would have plenty of time to see both, but I'm sure once you are getting that "all over tan" and are making new friends with your neighbors, you may not want to leave at all!
