LOW-LIGHTS......THE CLUB (FIASC)O ......This was an unfortunate way to gain attention. While this didn't affect me, directly, I saw what it was affecting staff members and guests. The negative messages sent to the guests will damage their reputation, immeasurably. The negative messages given to the beach dwellers, who could be potential Club O guests, is also, immeasurable. They've done some serious damage to their reputation. They've created an unstable environment. Guests don't need to feel insecure while on vacation. Very unfortunate.
THEFT.....A couple that we've known from several years of visits were robbed. They stopped at Baie Longue ( yup, they should have known better ) and walked approx. 100 yds. from the locked car, only to come back and find the back window broken into and their watches and cameras taken. Ironically, his money pouch was still in the front seat! Not a good thing.
Also, met a lady on Orient, who'd just arrived and while having breakfast @ ZeeBest in Simpson Bay with her children & grandchildren, a ruckus ensued (as a diversion?) and while everyone was paying attention to this, her purse, which was between her feet, was taken. EVERYTHING was gone in a split second!!
These things aren't good for tourism!!
SCARY FEW MOMENTS......One evening, while driving from Marigot ( I was designated driver ), while at the rotary near the cemetery a SUV appeared behind me with the highlights on. I continued on my route heading towards Cole Bay Rd. and this SUV was on my tail. I didn't want to alarm my passengers but, finally, did shout a few *&^% loudly enough to 'awaken' them and they also, saw that this guy was up to no good. So, I drove along until I got onto Cole Bay Rd. with this guy still on my tail, all the while, he was flashing his lights and honking the horn. I didn't want to pull over because it was quite dark and feared it was a tactic to get me to pull over and rob us. I gave him plenty of opportunity to pass us, if that's what he wanted to do. Apparently, that wasn't his intention.
So, on Cole Bay Rd., I signaled into Port d'Plaisance
