Chicken Hearts... does anyone like them like I do? I cook them up in a little chicken broth & lots of onions & mushrooms... and serve them over white or brown rice... Yummmmmm! also a dish that goes great with lima beans!
when I was in my teens I worked at a diner (Drosso's, in Greenport, NY on the North Fork of LI)... My mentor, who instilled my love for cooking to this day, was an old jolly black man we called "Mr. Bill", in his mid-late 70's back in 1972... he was from North Carolina, and came to Greenport to cook every summer... and stay with his daughter who lived there... the chicken hearts were never on the menu, but he taught me to make them and we'd have them for lunch at least once a week... I have such fond memories of that man...
used to be you could get them (chicken hearts) everywhere... but now the only place I can find them is at a local oriental supermarket... My mom & dad love them, but my wife won't touch them with a 10' pole!
