Lesley Bruce and his lovely wife came to our rescue tonight when we discovered a flat tire as we were going out to dinner. Swift email response by Lesley, and they drove all the way over to French Cul de Sac at 8:30 at night to change our tire. Lesley is the best. We would never rent from anyone else! Thank you!

We had a tire problem on the French side on a past trip. One phone call and it was handled promptly. We have always rented from Kenny's because we know they will take good care of us!

Lesley did the same for us last year. Our flat was in the underground Maho garage. He's tops in my book.

We also had a flat tire at night a couple weeks ago. I changed the tire and called Leslie the next day and he came over where we were visiting friends at Club O and replaced the spare tire. Best on the island!!!

Exactly! I have said many times that service doesn't just mean they show up with a car and take your money. Service really means something when they are there for you!! I trust Lesley Bruce to be there for us!

We haven't had a flat lately but I notice the tires are often low on cars, and we have found it hard to find someplace to get air. Anyone know a handy place in Simpson Bay area to get air?

There is a tire shop in the Simpson Bay general area, off the main road and heading more or less towards the beach? We were there once but I can't remember exactly where it is. I know Lesley could give you exact the location and directions since he's the one who told us about it.

Our last trip we had a low tire. Took it to Hertz and they discovered a nail in the tire. Promptly replaced the tire for us along with washing car and vacuuming it out. I did notice an air hose there in the front. In a pinch you might be able to use theirs.

The station next to the former Turtle Pier has one in the office that I have borrowed several years ago. It was a Texaco station back then.

I think that Texaco station is no longer there, Bob. We always went there to fill up the car before returning to the airport, but last year it had disappeared.

Just maybe if all the tires on the rental cars were not completely bald there wouldn't be a problem to begin with.

personally, i was THRILLED to see that Texaco service station gone. They ripped us off a few years back...on the way to the airport, stopped to put gas in the tank. couldnt read the meter on the pump. i had a nissan versa with half a tank left when i got there. Told them to fill it. WEll, to my surprise, the attendent told me SIXTY bucks. WTF???? I argued...knew i had a half a tank left....and was planning on waiting for the police to show up..knowing there was no way a small versa could take sixty bucks for the tankful...never mind the half tank. Since we were on the to return the car for the airport, didnt leave me any choice but to pay it...knowing that i was ripped off by at least FORTY BUCKS. Two years after this incident, texaco was gone...hopefully someone finally ripped them off.

That was a bad experience. We never ask for a "fill up" on the island. We always ask for a set amount, usually $20 and that gives us a full tank each time. There are a few places that will try to scam you if you are not careful.

Agreed. We always pay attention to how much fuel we use before the first gas station visit, and get $10 or $20 worth. That way we know exactly what we need to get to bring the tank back to where it was when we got the car, which is very rarely full.

Our rental is always on the full mark when we pick it up and we return it full. I always pump my own gas and stop when the pump stops. 5 or 10 dollars here or there is a drop in the bucket over a four week period when it comes to paying for fuel. Not something that I worry about at the end of a great vacation.

Maybe we should periodically be posting thar $20 means you should see 35.7 as the price on a Dutch side pump.
