SEacrest is just up he hill from Foxy's. They put me up there when I poured the keel for the JVDPS. Nice large rooms and a quick walk to Foxys.

Hi all, I have already spoken with a bunch of you guys who I knew are leaving sooner than later for the Catfight but for anyone else interested I do have the tshirt fun design and tribute to Mark "Saildoggie" Paulson completed. There was some fun collaboration and the "map" could have had about 30 other funny things on it but this was all I could squeeze this time smile The idea was also presented to have a portion of the proceeds go to VISAR in Mark's name . There is also a link to VISAR where anyone can donate directly to them just an FYI http://visar.org/donations/

Here is the shirt idea and options available, anyone can order but if you are going down get with me as soon as you can, thanks!! http://www.customsailingshirts.com/uploads/Pricing_and_Shirt_Options_Cat_Fight_2016.pdf

Seacrest is great and will sell out! Another option (though a bit further away) is Evening star villas up on the hill above little harbour. You'd need a rental jeep but they are great and reasonably priced way to make a quick JVD getaway.

Come on over!

Long term forecast on Windfinder not looking good for Saturday - 2-4 kt south winds. Anyone recall if the race has ever been cancelled due to lack of winds?

We registered 0.0 knots last year behind Great Thatch, so I am not sure what it would take to cancel the event!

One or two rather "IN" jokes on that chart.

Wait, you're bringing a monohull to a cat fight?

Indeed, one-legged cat category. We've had three one-legged cats that last few years. All on fun!

So what's the plan for Friday? Are we dedicating the Dawg Rock marker that afternoon? Other groups plans for the evening?

On our way to Catatonic for Cat Fight! My current job and travel is cramping my TTOL lifestyle, so sorry for the long hiatus.

Good news is that the Dawg Rocks Memorial marker is checked on our Delta non-stop flight, but what an adventure it has been. I ordered the Taylor Made Sur-Mark Buoy from Cabela's and then got an email Monday that it still hadn't shipped. West Marine carried it (but for about 50% more even with Port Supply) on-line, so I got one express shipped to our local store, so I cancelled the Cabela's order. Turns out it was too big to ship FedEx (which is why it said it hadn't shipped), but it actually had shipped by a common carrier, so guess what shows up at our house yesterday and at West Marine yesterday...we are on a first name basis with everyone in the store so they did take this special order item back.

Getting this in the trunk was the first hurdle with our driver this morning. Next, the Delta baggage counter at JFK. The gate agent had no idea what a marker buoy was, so I told her it was a water proof golf bag. She didn't like that and next thing we knew she and her supervisor were trying to find the right button to press. It is only 32lbs, but over 4' tall. They finally decided general oversized bag which would be an additional $200 . I went back to the golf bag argument and I think I wore them both down and told them this was a memorial buoy. Next stop TSA with oversized bags...the agent said to me, is that a buoy. I answered affirmative, and she said, that's cool!

Sur-Mark should be on our flight! Hopefully I can update this post from STT later today!

We are planning on meeting up with Sailpuppy at the airport to help with special transportation to JVD.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Nick,

We'll figure something out to cover the marker and if there is any extra we'll send it to VISAR.

I was really funny seeing it come out on the baggage belt. I've never seen so many people checking out strange luggage. I told them it was a water proof golf bag and a few actually believed me.
