I know that no one can predict the weather, but is the water typically rougher and colder in December so snorkeling and swimming is not great? Too much rain? I've read about "Christmas winds" for USVI as well as HI, but wanted some help from you guys! thanks!

You are right, it is hard to predict, however, in general, early December is nice. The Christmas winds don't always come in December, but by January, I know it's too cold for me to get in the water. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/drown.gif" alt="" />

The water temp will be in the high 70's, wet suit for me. Snorkeling and swimming are always great, year round.

If you don't live here you will laugh at our water temp comments. I used to dive here in January without a wet suit. Can't do that anymore. The Christmas winds are usually January. Early December is nice everything is open and freshly painted but not busy.
