They are on sale everywhere now around NJ... Yummmm... Makes a great french toast! It's a yeast bread... so I'll buy one for $4 rather than make it myself...

Sure, why not!! Brian, I happen to be one of the weirdos who like Pannetone. It's not too sweet. I love it toasted for breakfast around the holidays. Makes it feel like an Italian holiday season! And it's on sale all over the place. Freezes great so grab a few!!
Pear and Cranberry Panettone Bake: 35 minutes
3 large pears; peeled, cored and sliced 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup cranberries, dried (or raisins) 1-inch slice panettone 3 eggs 2 cups eggnog (or half-and-half or light cream plus 1/4 cup granulated sugar) 1 teaspoon vanilla Powdered sugar dried cranberries (optional) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Peel, core, and slice three large pears; saute in hot butter until softened. Arrange pears in a greased 3-quart rectangular baking dish. Sprinkle pears with sugar, ground cinnamon, and dried cranberries or raisins. Top with panettone, tearing to fit. In a medium bowl whisk together eggs, eggnog (or half-and-half or light cream plus sugar) and vanilla. Pour over panettone in dish; press down lightly with the back of a spatula or large spoon to moisten all the bread. Bake, uncovered, for 35 minutes or until egg portion appears set. Let stand for 20 to 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar; serve warm. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Yumma! Great dessert and awesome for breakfast! Hey, it's got eggs.....gotta be good for you!!

We absolutely LOVE Panettone! I wish we could get it all year round! Not too sweet, light & airy! Great with a good cup of Tim Hortons or DD's...

Not my recipe, but this looks better than mine!
[color:"blue"]Panettone French Toast[/color]
Ingredients 1 (12 ounce) panettone 1 (8 ounce) container mascarpone cheese 1/3 cup orange juice 1/3 cup Grand Marnier 1/3 cup orange marmalade 4 eggs 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 pinch ground nutmeg 3 tablespoons olive oil Directions 1.Slice panettone into 1 inch slices; cut each slice into 4 wedges. In a small bowl, whisk together the mascarpone, orange preserves, and orange juice. In a separate large bowl, whisk the eggs, cinnamon, grand marnier and nutmeg. 2.Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip the panettone into the egg mixture, coating well. Place into the hot oil; fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Serve with the orange mascarpone sauce.
