I may get windy, so lets call this Volume 1. This volume only relates to day 1 because it lasted a 100 years. By the way, despite some adventures you will read about, we had an awesome time and take everything in stride, cause after all, if everything was uneventful, life would be boring. We flew out from Toronto, decided this year to check in to the Sheraton (119$CAN) right at the Airport. Checked in Patti and the Luggage first then drove away to park. The Hotel there no longer owns the property so at 95$ per week I decided to park elsewhere for 28.95 a few miles away at Direct Flights, beside the International Plaza Hotel on Dixon Rd and took the free shuttle back. When you awake at 3 am (6:30 flight)at least you can stumble over to the Terminal on foot, no sweating it out waiting to see if the shuttle will get you back there on time and fight with people to retrieve your luggage. I escaped security checks with my underwear intact and we had a Great Flight on Sky Service directly to the island. (4 hrs, 38 minutes and remember, set watch 1 hour ahead. I had reserved our car through Adventure Car Rentals. (Had read good and bad things but more good) Just provided my ccard number, no sweat, reserved. We took the shuttle to Adventure. Funny, they never heard of me!! Good thing I printed a copy of the email discussions and confirmation. After a few anxious moments, they rolled out an ATOS (tiny hatchback) at the quoted price of 199.00US for the week. By the way, it was a very experienced car, with numerous war wounds, but hey, the air and radio worked and it ran well, I'd rather have that then something pristine inviting scratches. Used Travelguard Insurance this year rather than pay 11.00 per day from the Car Rental Company, saved about 50%, email me if you want some information on Travelguard, best way to buy insurance and no deductable to pay. Drove down to RAMS and picked up our Grub Stake for the week, cold Heinies too! Go to RAMS, cleaner than Food Center. We normally just get the coffee/tea and breakfast stuff. Drove over to DIVI Little Bay at 1:30, funny check out is by 10/11 and our unit wasn't ready. Great, we managed to get them to put our perishables in fridge behind reception, dam not Heinies though. Drove back to "Cost You Less" to check out after reading Contessa's comments. Go down the hill over the Roundabout and turn left, you can't miss it.
Picked up one of those thermal cooler bags, no ice required, hey it kept my Heinies and Patti's coolers from baking on Orient and at 2.89 US was bargain. Cost You Less is almost a carbon copy of Costco. The booze is cheaper there than on front street folks! DIVI suggested that we could likely have our unit cleaned by 3 pm so went back at 3:45 (you know, Island time) Still not ready by now, our airline rations were starting to wear off, so I found a new this year thatched hut bar on the DIVI/BELLAIR Beach, so we went and dined on a cold burnt hotdog, least the Heinie was cold, then marched for the room, dammit ready or not. It was ready and clean, great, and now to wash off the plane grime. Patti graciously suggested I could shower first. After I finished, it took me a while to get up the nerve to tell her there was no hot water!! Drove over to Peg Leg Petes around 6, right beside Dominos Pizza across from the old Lightning Casino. Neil is getting a Sign, pull in beside Dominos and look for the skull and crossbones just above the door, if your facing Dominos from the road, its on the right. (Neil, let Shawn know I am sending a carton of Player's Light, send me an email back, I don't think your Web Site has a mailing address) Shawn is the Meeter/Greeter/Server/Jokester of Peg Legs (more to come about Peg Legs and what a great spot it is), a great ambassador. Met Rudy and Suzie as planned, the Contessa and Sword dropped in, Karen and ? from Burlington, ON and some other folks sorry can't remember all, still in jet lag at time. Had some drinks great conversation then after an hour, everyone split for varied destinations. Rudy, Suzie, Patti and I went up to Bananas to eat. It was busy and we waited quite a while, finally got a table and Dale(the sweet head honcho) bought us a free round of drinks for waiting so long. We didn't know that at Bananas, you place your food order at the bar yourself as soon as you arrive. You will have a table by the time it's ready [Linked Image] Although there was no more of the Lobster Special by that time, I had a steak and it was great, can't remember what everyone else ate but we all enjoyed. Said goodnight to Rudy and Suzie and headed back to sack out for the night. P.S. Island lush as I've ever seen it and awesome weather, stay tuned for further Volumes, loaded with fun and adventures from our paradise.[Linked Image]

Allan
