Most restaurants are attached to some type of parking lot. It is a very good restaurant with decent prices, a nice selection of food and a loyal following, both local and tourist.

I wonder--does every restaurant you go to in SXM have to have a view or be on the water? If so, then you have a point. If not, I see no difference between Mark's and, say, Temptation, which has no view of anything, and is right by the casino, or any one of dozens of other restaurants with no view. At least at Mark's, you don't actually SEE the cars and smell the car exhaust, like you do at The Palms. I refuse to go back to The Palms, because I feel like I am literally eating in the middle of the road there. At Mark's, once you get inside, you really don't have any idea where you are. It's not fancy cuisine, but just good food, and plenty of it, with good service. You should try it!

Everyone has to do what works for them. A stop at Marks is always on our to-do list, and for sure, we're never disappointed in the food, the service and the prices. It's not high-end French gourmet but it's still good eating, and once you're inside, you forget all about the parking lot part, particularly in the evening.

Carol, when we dine at The Palms we always eat indoors as we find the deck area is very close to the road. We do love the food and hospitality there. The Palms has received many food awards so perhaps you should give it another try and sit at the tables inside. We enjoy Mark's too,but not crazy about the location there either.

Elizabeth--sorry, the tables inside are just about as close to the road as the ones outside. And we were not particularly impressed with the food, for the PRICE, considering the (lack of) ambiance. I will not be back.
