Interesting. I have chartered from The Moorings in Oyster Pond several times and I remember asking the Moorings Rep there about whether we were actually on the French side or the Dutch side. She kind of smiled and said something along the lines of "That's a very good question."

What worries me is this talk of blocking access to the businesses there. If I had a charter and couldn't get to the boat, that would not be fun.

Thanks for the link!

I don't know area that well to know where the "property line" is, but on last visit we drove over to dawn beach Westin and capt olivers and walked the docks looking at the boats.

I noticed it looked like a lot of gendarmes were living in the neighborhood near there. So I assumed it was at least half French nearby.

Captain Oliver's restaurant is supposed to be on the Dutch side as it is over the water; the hotel is on the French side. It is my understanding that the boarder is the water line, so anything over the water is Dutch and anything on land is French. Apparently after readying the article, that is now in dispute.

It is a very complicated division line. The actual dining area of the restaurant is on the Dutch side, but the office within the restaurant is apparently on the French side. There have been disputes over this property for years and nothing has been resolved.

Yes. When you walk into the restaurant directly from the parking lot, Captain Olivers put up a 'border crossing' between the office and the restaurant.
