Arrival into Bodrum after a very comfy smooth flight and quick taxi to our hotel.
Bodrum is a bustling seaside touristy town, Lots of activity. the taxi driver tells us this is a huge tourist destination for all of Turkey and other parts of Europe. The bars and night life go all night.
Settle in and out we go to explore for a few hours.
Had a great beachside meal after exploring the neat shop filled streets.

Oh how I wish we had a few days here, the night life looked awesome and the place was just starting to hop when we turned in at midnight. We have a ferry ride and a date with a sail boat in the morning so it's goodnight Irene.

Left the dock for adventure like excited children . what a bustling marina....filled with megas yachts and day tripping cool wooden boats. The ferry ride was smooth and enjoyable.

....an hour later we land in Kos , our flotilla awaits.

Oh my I had read about all the refugees landing on Kos , but to see it with your own eyes was something. hundreds of folks everywhere .

The Greek government provide them with tents and basic sleeping supplies upon landing.

They come over in these rafts. a very sad thing but at least they are safe now. we would see several groups of refugees landing on Greek islands on our trip.

This place has Turkish influence, the typical Greek style churches as well as ancient ruins ...all together in one modern/ancient blend...very cool

Nice provisioning and settle into our boat...all cleaned up for a group meal ashore and some socializing....quickly made friends with some Aussies, some folks from Scotland ( my god he was hard to understand) and a few lovely families from England...apparently Canadians never do these Greek flotilla thingies. Only Canucks they have had this year!!!
What and you have a boat in the BVI they say....you must be nuts ....
No just adventurous.....

Ok let the adventure begin...Greek isle number one....off to Kalymnos we go ....
