If you are indeed an Alabama boy, then Hog Heaven bbq restaurant on Virgin Gorda will be your highlight. Better than Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, Shirley's up near Pell City, and Archibald's in Northport. Just forget all of the other ones in B'ham...rent a car at Leverick or Yacht Harbor and go. It ain't hard to find 'cause there ain't that many road routes on Virgin Gorda. Oh, and take a camera 'cause the views are spectacular...lol

Hey BamaBoy, I still mail order Dreamland BBQ sauce. I married a Virginia girl I met at UofA and moved to Richmond in the early '70's. Lived off campus at 13th and 8th. just down from the stadium while in college. You will love all of the new stuff posted on this page. Sorry you won't be down ilon' when we are there. I would buy you a beer at Mad Dog...lol...and Roll Tide!

Wait, wait, you are coming down in May! What dates? We stay at Guavaberry Spring Bay now in a small cottage near the Bath's. We will be on Virgin Gorda May 2 to May 23. May 1, our first night, will be in Roadtown, and May 23, our last night, will be in St. Thomas. Take us out for a sail...

Oh, I just thought of something you may not know about but should if you are chartering and planning on going to the Baths. The Nat'l Park has roped off a stretch of water from Devil's Bay all the way past Spring Bay to keep charter folks from taking dinghies up onto the beaches. So, if you get a mooring ball at the Baths you will have to swim/snorkle into the beach. Most people here on TTOL suggest going to Leverick Bay and renting a car, which will also come in handy for Hog Heavan. If you do it this way don't forget ships papers for you will have to pay an admission fee to the Baths.

That view makes everything taste better though. I understand that Shirley's is a new place where Manning's was. I haven't tried it yet. SAW's in B'ham is worth a try.

Dayhiker, my brother's and other relatives live by Logan Martin lake, and Shirley's Mainline BBQ is owned by my nephew's in laws. Nick's wife keeps posting picts of BBQ on FaceBook and I want it now! But they don't deliver to Richmond, VA. The owner of Hog Heavan actually has a pig farm on Virgin Gorda, so local and not imported. And you are right about the views, they are amazing...

Blondie is the owner and told us that when his hogs die they "go up to Hog Heaven".
