We had our final shipmate meeting last weekend to finalize our menus itinerary for our upcoming trip in May. We were discussing how we missed the Beans show at Marina Cay. We were wondering if anybody knows the real story as to the fallout between Michael Beans and Pusser's.

We have since enjoyed the show at Leverick, but we could definitely feel, AND taste, the difference. Call us rum snobs if you wish, but the Distributarrrrrr shots tasted better at Marina Cay. And they seemed to be more 'free flowing' when Pusser's was backing his show.

So...... what's the real story ?

I actually saw Beans this past summer .... on Beaver Island - Lake Michigan! He has a regular gig there in the summer I believe and just by chance we were there on the weekend he was playing.

Kirk..... glad to hear that. As it should be !!

We have missed his shows by about a week on our last few trips. We having always enjoyed a good Beans show. It was just a topic of discussion amongst shipmates as we ALWAYS attended his shows at Marina Cay. The move was sudden and the purpose of this thread was to hopefully find out what the real reason was. He is a fantastic entertainer, and in our opinion it was Pusser's loss and Leverick's gain. With that I say, Arrrrrr... !!!

Saw the Beans show last Tuesday at Leverick Bay. He had the lead guitar player from Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels play along for a few tunes. WOW was he good! They also jammed in the afternoon, just the two of them, with some garage country songs. Totally different than the show and excellent to say the least! You never know who will show up and play with Beans smile

Had a lovely lunch with Nick, Monzi "Hillside" Bruce and Andie yesterday..Nick was saying that the Beans shows are packed these days..so its a good idea to get there early. They've also moved the stage so everyone has a great view now...

Being a "rum snob" and enjoying pusser's rum are mutually exclusive. Just sayin' <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

Until you have tried Pusser's Gunpowder Proof (not available in the US) you shouldn't be so quick with those words. Was voted consensus favorite at the Rum Rennaisance in Miami 2 years ago. An accolade my wife and I agreed with enough that I made a special trip to the Selfridges Whiskey Shop last time in London. (FWIW, I currently have 64 different bottles of rum in my Rum Room at home)

A man amongst men you are !! Or should I say...... Arrrrrr !!!

I ordered a bottle of Gunpowder Proof from the U.K. and have been sitting on it until our trip in May so I can share it with our shipmates. I'd like to hear your opinion about it, and how you've been drinking it.

If you are able to hatch a new one - problem solved.

I stand corrected. I must say I've never had the opportunity to try it. Duly noted, and added to the must-have bottle list <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />
It's available from "Master's of Malt" for only $32.69.
My current favorite rum is Plantation XO 20th Anniversary.
